UFC 225: Whittaker vs. Romero 2 staff picks and predictions for PPV main card
The Bloody Elbow staff has made its picks for UFC 225, and I’m not even sure I should really be calling this”UFC 225: Whittaker vs. Romero 2.” For the time being, Robert Whittaker and Yoel Romero has not been cancelled following Romero’s weight reduction, but we know that it’s not for a title fight. Theoretically this probably needs to be Rafael dos Anjos vs. Colby Covington as the main event, irrespective of the status of Whittaker vs. Romero.
Anyway, everyone is going with Robert Whittaker more than Yoel Romero for Saturday night. In terms of the co-main event, just Phil Mackenzie is going with Colby Covington to beat Rafael dos Anjos and eventually become the interim welterweight champion.

UFC 225: Whittaker vs. Romero 2 staff picks and predictions for the card
Notice: Predictions are entered during the week and collected prior to the event. Explanations behind every pick aren’t required and a few authors elect to not do so for their own motives. By way of example, if Phil Mackenzie entered all his predictions on Wednesday without adding in any excuses , he has no idea if he’s likely to be the only one siding with one fighter for any given fight.
Robert Whittaker vs. Yoel Romero
Anton Tabuena: Romero will always be harmful, but Whittaker is most likely to be the person who has made the most improvements since their initial bout. I would’ve picked Whittaker even before Romero looking like passing on the scale, and now I anticipate a more one-sided affair this time. Robert Whittaker by TKO.
Mookie Alexander: Properly Romero shed weight. This is now a non-title bout, and it has three rounds (I am presuming ). Anyhow, these were my thoughts before the weight miss, and nothing changes . My pick hinges almost entirely on Whittaker not looking depleted after each of the health issues that plagued him earlier in the year. His takedown defense is incredible, and even when Romero caught him down, he could not hold him there… which was even with Whittaker’s knee getting jacked by Romero from the opening round! I really don’t think that changes in the rematch, and he fights at a speed and instances his strikes even better compared to Yoel does. Their first bout remains the only time Romero has been outlanded in a UFC battle. I’m expecting Romero to combat this one strategically because he did vs. Luke Rockhold. However, Rockhold is a somewhat basic and comparatively wooden striker, whereas Whittaker cuts throws and angles in punishing combinations. I know there is the third-round Romero fear, but don’t rule out Whittaker planting Romero using a head kick. I am hoping we get another thriller, but the pick is still Robert Whittaker by unanimous decision.
